Hiyaaa here I come again with the anime review!!!! It's a first-ranked anime on MAL that me myself has to acknowledge that it deserves the spot : Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhod aka FMA-Brotherhood. This anime was first broadcasted in 2003, with Fullmetal Alchemist as the title. Then there was a remake for that version, which was this one, aired in 2009. Some who have watched both versions said the first one felt rushed and not according to the manga, while this one was exactly based on it. As an anime-only fan, I can't give any comments on that. Lol.
Okay, to start it all, I don't want to watch this at first, to be very honest. The reason? Because for god's sake, IT FREAKING HAS 64 EPISODES!!!!!! How the hell did I end up watching this? Thanks to the huge curiousity of how-good-an-anime-sitting-on-MAL's-first-place-could-be and the jobless me, I finished this in only 4 days. Yea, I got no life, I freaking knew it.
This story tells about two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who could perform alchemy. With the basic rules of you get as much as you give; the Law of Equivalent Exchange. And as there's always "but" in every thing, this law could be overcome using the Philosopher's Stone.
Well, let's skip to the basic questions to help me writing the summary.
- What robot is it in the poster? It's not a robot. It's Alphonse. The main character.
- Why is he a robot? There's no science-fiction genre tagged with this anime? [spoiler] It's only his soul affixed to the armor.
- How could he affix the soul? And why? [spoiler] They performed one forbidden act in alchemy, the human transmutation.
Okay I do give up writing the summary. I can't do that without giving you any spoiler sigh sorry!
What I love about this anime : the brothers relationship (they love and rely on each other's so much), each one with their own strong characters (one is so strong-witted and gets worked up easily while the other one is softer and more cold-headed). Also the plot and how side characters are giving impacts as powerful as the main characters.
After taste :
- Seriously, what is trust? YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYONE IN THIS ANIME I TOLD YA
- Anticipate the tear-jerking and heart-wrenching scenes! Do prepare a box of tissues!!!!! I was just on episode 4 and I cried already /sobs/
- Calling all Roy/Riza shippers! God damn it, this two really need to get married! THEY ARE BEYOND CUTE!!! GET A ROOM ALREADYYYY
- You'll be easily hooked with the side characters and the villains!
Best part : "The Colonel always calls me Riza when we're alone together" the line that got me screaming so loud (glad I didn't flip my laptop down lol)
Rating : 10/10! Cast aside the ship and bias, this anime really deserves its top spot! I'll definitely rewatch this again someday!
Well, although this review sucks, I just feel that I have to write this because it touched me a lot in my soft spot and I can't let it slide just then. See you on another (terrible) review!
